Sunday Post

I have had a few calls and yup, I am still home. No trips to the hospital, no contractions yet, nothing! With only 5 more days to go, we finished with packing the bag and it is in the car finally. I guess I am as ready as I will ever be...are you ever really ready for this event?

Will try to give you updates as the week progresses. Tootlepops is going to upload info on my blog when the baby arrives, so keep checking out the page for updates.

Diaper & Baby Update

Well, I met with the Cloth Diaper people today. I am still so on the fence. Todd was a bit shocked that I brought it up again and he feels like the disposables are so much easier-and we already were showed how to use those ones. So, I think I have decided to 'not' decide for now. One on hand I feel like I am doing good for the environment, and on the other hand, it is more work, more in the middle of the night, etc. I did the pricing it out thing and there isn't a huge savings at all. I averaged some data that I got online (they compared their prices to Safeway - and I compared it to Wal-Mart & Target prices)....cloth service is actually more expensive at about $.22 per diaper and I think with coupons, I can get disposables around $.15 per diaper. So, thank you to all who gave me opinions...much appreciated....I can always change my mind later.

So more on the pregnancy....this morning I woke up and looked in the mirror and about screamed! I told Todd that I grew overnight! I think the baby really just dropped a bit? It is like a perfectly round basketball in my belly!

I had a doctor appointment today and it went really well. They didn't do a "check" as I saw another dr. in the group and he didn't really see a big need to check me out...I was totally fine with that! On a good note, my blood pressure is down from it being so high last week. It is only 10 points (what do you call it in medical tems?) higher than my normal vs. the 35 that is was up last week. I was so happy to hear this news, that means that this R&R I have been on must be good for me and the baby. And, although I am not tracking nor do I look to see how much weight I have gained (as I might cry if I did), the assistant did tell me that I didn't gain any weight this past week. That was great news to me! So, today the baby measured at 36 weeks. I am not sure how that is at all possible. Last week I measured right on at 38 weeks, and now I have regressed? I think maybe just the baby moving down changes measurements? Who knows, I didn't ask...hoping for a not so huge baby :) Think good thoughts for me!

I dropped by my office today...I do miss everyone I work with. They have a baby poll going on, so the earliest date is this weekend....I think the 28th and the last guessed date is the 14th. Todd has a vote of the 7th, so we will see when baby wants to enter this big world.

Update

Well, I am on my third day of Maternity Leave. Can't say that I have done much. I did go to Wal-Mart both Monday and Tuesday. And, I have a new appreciation of the CROCKPOT. I can smell dinner cooking right now, so yummy! Last night I had thrown in pork chops for dinner and tonight we are having sweet and sour chicken - can't wait to see how it turns out. It took me a whole 5 minutes to prepare the goods for the crockpot and then we will only have one dish to clean! I love it!

I am almost done with all the laundry for the baby. I had a few things still left to launder. I have also been working on scrappbooking a bit. I took the pictures from both Todd and I's childhood and have been making a book of us growing up. It is turning out pretty well, although I am not as detailed as some folks, I sometimes just throw the pics in with a frame and go with it.

I am seriously considering doing the cloth diaper service now. I have been doing so much research on it, and it really does seem so much better for the environment. I am not one to do the laundry in my own washer, so I talked to the service here locally. I have an appointment with them tomorrow afternoon. It is a few dollars more per week (like $3), but they say that children will potty train that much soon, so I figure that will make up the difference in the long run. And, then there is the diaper rash issue....me being so fair skinned, I am sure the baby may have the same issue? And, then there is the landfill issue. I can't say that I am such a reclyer, etc, but throwing out all the diapers seems like such a waste. I do have a stock of disposables already on hand, and may use them along side with the cloth, I was thinking maybe if we go to town or something, I can still use them. Any other Mom's out there using cloth diapers? I think I am going to do the inital startup for the month and if I don't like it, they say I can cancel with a 3 day notice.

I don't have a picture as I haven't really gotten "dressed" up enough to feel like taking a picture of myself...maybe tomorrow when I really have to go out into the public :)

Okay, this will be all for now. Any cloth diaper advice would be appreciated!

Maternity Leave

Well, I am officially on Maternity Leave. On Thursday the Doctor ordered me to start staying home and getting rest. Although I am not on "bed rest" he advises to get rest as we won't get much after the arrival. So, I am 38 weeks along and waiting. ....

Not too sure what I am going to do with my days, but I am sure I will get some nice R&R. I still have a few things to add to the bag, so I need to get hopping on packing that. Todd and I went grocery shopping today and I feel like we stocked up for a month. I found some receipes online for freezing meals, so for the next few days, I plan to make a meal or two and pop in the freezer so we don't have to think about food when the baby comes home those first few nights. Pizza always works too, but I thought I would at least try to be a bit prepared.... We stocked up on meats, so the crockpot is another great resource...and Mom will be here to help out too.

I have to say that the feeling in this past week is different than before. Instead of many kicks, I am not also feeling more of a slide movement on my belly, and a kick. It is really interesting the changes in the body. To those of you who have had todlers and been pregnant at home, I don't know how you did it. I am exhausted just being me and not having to take care of anyone else.

37 weeks

Hi folks,

Well....I am getting to that tired point now. Nights are becoming less and less restful and days are spent resting. We are about ready to go to town for a "Date Night". Here is my current pic (couldn't decide which to post - so here they both are).

It is freezing cold here.....don't worry - I will wear a jacket. Last night our pipes froze, so we didn't have water until about 10am....I was sooo ready for a shower. We finished our birthing classes yesterday and are as ready as we are going to be for the big arrival.

Hope this all finds you well.

36 weeks tomorrow

Hi all, here I am at 36 weeks. I had a doctor appointment today and all is well. All my numbers are good. I am only measuring at 34 weeks, which I was measuring 34 weeks at 34 weeks and I know that the belly has grown in 2 weeks....doc didn't seem to worried though.

I am still working full time and so for it is going well. I am hoping to make it to at least the 22nd of January at work. I will feel okay leaving 2 weeks early and that will give me a chance to hopefully get everything how I want to leave it.

This weekend we have our birthing classes, this should be interesting...hopefully very informational. That is about all the news that I have...babies room is done, just waiting for a baby. Pics of the room to come when the baby comes.
